§ 573. Duties and responsibilities

The Integrated Services Council shall collaborate with the Administrator of the Juvenile Institutions Administration or his/her authorized representative, in the coordination, planning, and development of the following services:

(a) To perform a study of the needs of the youths who voluntarily participate in the Program.

(b) To provide the participating youths with formal and informal holistic education experiences according to their capabilities and interests.

(c) To offer orientation, training and employment experiences to the participating youths, attuned to their goals and purposes for the fulfillment of their life project.

(d) To promote full collaboration and assistance so that the youth participating in the Program may obtain health insurance coverage that allows them to receive medical services according to their circumstances and needs.

(e) To develop orientations regarding the development of healthy life styles integrated with a recreation plan in environments that are free from alcoholic beverages and other drugs.

(f) To establish a plan for the evaluation of the services rendered in order to attune the goals and purposes of the Program with the social reality of the participating youths, and with the proposed goals and purposes.

(g) To promote participation in community initiatives that provide an integrated social experience for the adaptation and development of the participating youths in their socialization process.

(h) To collaborate in the coordination of the services requested by the Juvenile Institutions Administration, together with the liaison officer designated by the secretaries, executive directors and administrators of the agencies, municipalities, and public corporations of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and with the public and private entities with respect to the necessary services.

(i) To render an annual progress report, to be remitted to the Legislature and the Governor in May. This report shall include the number of youths benefited, the services rendered, the clientele satisfaction and the needs of the Program.

(j) It shall be in charge of establishing the profile of the minor that may qualify for the Youth Lodging and Integrated Services Program.
