Section 507.070 - Murder of a first responder(1) As used in this section, "first responder" means:(b) Paid or volunteer emergency medical services or rescue personnel;(c) A paid or volunteer member of an organized fire department; or(d) Personnel of a private nonprofit organization providing fire, rescue, or emergency medical services; engaged at the time of the act in the lawful performance of his or her duties.
(2) A person is guilty of murder of a first responder when, with the intent to cause the death of a first responder, he or she causes the death of a first responder.(3) Notwithstanding KRS Chapter 532, murder of a first responder is a capital offense and the person shall be sentenced to death or imprisonment for life without benefit of probation or parole.Added by 2024 Ky.
