Section 65-28b03 - Same; standards and requirements for licensure(a) In order to obtain authorization to engage in the independent practice of midwifery, a certified nurse-midwife must meet the following requirements: (1) Be licensed to practice professional nursing under the Kansas nurse practice act;(2) have successfully completed a course of study in nurse-midwifery in a school of nurse-midwifery approved by the board;(3) have successfully completed a national certification approved by the board;(4) have successfully completed a refresher course as defined by rules and regulations of the board, if the individual has not been in active midwifery practice for five years immediately preceding the application;(5) be authorized to perform the duties of a certified nurse-midwife by the state board of nursing;(6) be licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse by the state board of nursing; and(7) have paid all fees for licensure prescribed in K.S.A.65-28b05, and amendments thereto.(b) Upon application to the board by any certified nurse-midwife and upon satisfaction of the standards and requirements established under this act, the board shall grant an authorization to the applicant to engage in the independent practice of midwifery.(c) A person whose licensure has been revoked may make written application to the board requesting reinstatement of the license in a manner prescribed by the board, which application shall be accompanied by the fee prescribed in K.S.A.65-28b05, and amendments thereto.(d) The provisions of this section shall become effective on January 1, 2017.Added by L. 2016, ch. 92,§ 90, eff. 1/1/2017.
