Section 25-1-9-6.8 - Practitioner guidelines before prescribing stimulant medication for a child for treatment of certain disorders(a) This section applies to a practitioner who is:(1) licensed to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine under IC 25-22.5; or(2) an advanced practice registered nurse granted prescriptive authority under IC 25-23 and whose practice agreement with a collaborating physician reflects the conditions specified in subsection (b).(b) Before prescribing a stimulant medication for a child for the treatment of attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a practitioner described in subsection (a) shall follow the most recent guidelines adopted by the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for the diagnosis and evaluation of a child with attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.Amended by P.L. 129-2018,SEC. 23, eff. 7/1/2018.As added by P.L. 107-2002, SEC.28.
