Section 22-1-1-5 - Bureaus; powers and duties(a) The bureau of mines and mining safety shall do the following: (1) have immediate charge of the administration of the underground mine laws of this state;(2) provide safety consultation services to any underground mine operator at the request of the operator;(3) provide mine safety and health education information to all underground mine operators; and(4) investigate all fatalities occurring in underground mine operations for the purpose of data collection; however, an investigation shall not interfere with investigations by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration.(b) The bureau of youth employment shall have immediate charge of the supervision of children who are gainfully employed, including employment certificate violations under IC 22-2-18-43 (before its expiration on June 30, 2021), IC 22-2-18-44 (before its expiration on June 30, 2021), and IC 22-2-18-45 (before its expiration on June 30, 2021) or violations under IC 22-2-18.1-30. A child employee under the jurisdiction of the bureau of youth employment may file a complaint with the bureau of youth employment if the employer of the child employee requires noncompliance by the child employee with the provisions of IC 22-2-18-43 (before its expiration).Amended by P.L. 147-2020,SEC. 12, eff. 4/1/2020.(Formerly: Acts 1945, c.334, s.5; Acts1975 , P.L. 235, SEC.3.)
