Section 15-17-5-7 - Transportation of equine carcasses, livestock, poultry not intended for human consumption, and carcasses of animals that died other than by slaughter(a) A person may not sell, transport, offer for sale or transportation, or receive for transportation, in commerce, carcasses or parts of carcasses of horses, mules, or other equines or the meat or meat food products of equines, unless the carcasses are plainly and conspicuously marked or labeled or identified as required by rules adopted by the board to show the kinds of animals from which the carcasses were derived.(b) A person may not buy, sell, transport, offer for sale or transportation, or receive for transportation, in commerce, livestock products or poultry products that are not intended for use as human food unless the products are denatured or identified as required by the rules of the board or are naturally inedible by humans.(c) A person engaged in the business of buying, selling, or transporting in commerce, dead, dying, disabled, or diseased animals, or any parts of the carcasses of any animals that died other than by slaughter, may not buy, sell, transport, offer for sale or transportation, or receive for transportation, in commerce, dead, dying, disabled, or diseased livestock or poultry or the products of such animals that died other than by slaughter unless the transaction or transportation is made in accordance with rules adopted by the board to ensure that the animals, or the unwholesome parts or products of the animals, will be prevented from being used for human food purposes.Pre-2008 Recodification Citation: 15-2.1-24-9.
