Section 14-9-4-2 - Creation, consolidation, or abolition of divisions or bureaus(a) The commission may, with the approval of the governor, create divisions other than the divisions established by section 1 of this chapter as the work of the department develops and as is necessary to differentiate the various functions of the department.(b) The commission may, with the approval of the governor, merge, consolidate, and abolish bureaus and divisions other than the division of law enforcement as the work of the department develops and as is necessary to consolidate, coordinate, or reduce the functions of the department.(c) In the creation, consolidation, or abolition of bureaus or divisions, the commission may not do the following:(1) Exercise a power or duty not otherwise provided by law.(2) Abdicate or otherwise avoid the execution of a duty imposed by law.Pre-1995 Recodification Citation: 14-3-3-6(d), (e).
