Section 70 ILCS 2205/7 - Board of trustees; Exercise of powers

The board of trustees, and its successors in office, shall constitute the corporate authority of the sanitary district, and shall exercise all powers and manage and control all the affairs and property of the district. The board of trustees may select a clerk, treasurer, engineer and attorney, and employ such other clerks and employees necessary for such municipality. All employees selected by the board shall hold their respective offices during the pleasure of the board, and shall give such bonds as may be required by the board. The board may prescribe the duties and fix the compensation of all the officers and employees of the district. The salary of the president of the board of trustees shall not exceed $2,000 per year, and the salary of the other members of the board shall not exceed $1,000 per year. The compensation received by any attorney shall not exceed the sum of $3,500 per year.

Each trustee shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, execute a bond with security to be approved by the circuit court, payable to the district, in the penal sum of $10,000, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of his office. Each bond shall be filed with and preserved by the county clerk.
