Section 5 ILCS 70/1.37 - Intellectual disability

Except where the context indicates otherwise, in any rule, contract, or other document a reference to the term "mental retardation" shall be considered a reference to the term "intellectual disability" and a reference to a mentally retarded person or a similar reference shall be considered a reference to a person with an intellectual disability . The use of either "mental retardation" or "intellectually disabled", or "mentally retarded" or "person with an intellectual disability " shall not invalidate any rule, contract, or other document.
