Section 30 ILCS 715/3 - Eligible Metropolitan Enforcement Groups A Metropolitan Enforcement Group which meets the minimum criteria established in this Section is eligible to receive State grants to help defray the costs of operation. To be eligible a MEG must:
(1) Be established and operating pursuant to intergovernmental contracts written and executed in conformity with the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, and involve 2 or more units of local government.(2) Establish a MEG Policy Board composed of an elected official, or his designee, and the chief law enforcement officer, or his designee, from each participating unit of local government to oversee the operations of the MEG and make such reports to the Illinois State Police as the Illinois State Police may require.(3) Designate a single appropriate elected official of a participating unit of local government to act as the financial officer of the MEG for all participating units of local government and to receive funds for the operation of the MEG.(4) Limit its operations to enforcement of drug laws; enforcement of Sections 10-9, 24-1, 24-1.1, 24-1.2, 24-1.2-5, 24-1.5, 24-1.7, 24-1.8, 24-2.1, 24-2.2, 24-3, 24-3.1, 24-3.2, 24-3.3, 24-3.4, 24-3.5, 24-3.7, 24-3.8, 24-3.9, 24-3A, 24-3B, 24-4, and 24-5 of the Criminal Code of 2012; Sections 2, 3, 6.1, 9.5, and 14 of the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act; and the investigation of streetgang related offenses.(5) Cooperate with the Illinois State Police in order to assure compliance with this Act and to enable the Illinois State Police to fulfill its duties under this Act, and supply the Illinois State Police with all information the Illinois State Police deems necessary therefor.(6) Receive funding of at least 50% of the total operating budget of the MEG from the participating units of local government.Amended by P.A. 103-0034,§ 31, eff. 6/9/2023.Amended by P.A. 102-0813,§ 235, eff. 5/13/2022.Amended by P.A. 102-0538,§ 355, eff. 8/20/2021.Amended by P.A. 102-0237,§ 16, eff. 1/1/2022.Amended by P.A. 097-1150,§ 115, eff. 1/25/2013.P.A. 88-677, eff. 12-15-94.
