Section 279D-6 - Metropolitan planning organization policy boards; membership and meetings(a) Policy board membership shall be established by comprehensive agreement, including any applicable supplemental agreements and bylaws; provided that a metropolitan planning organization serving a metropolitan planning area within the jurisdiction of any county with a resident population of more than 125,000 but less than 195,000 shall include as members of its policy board: (1) At least one member that shall be a resident of the applicable metropolitan planning area and a member of the senate appointed by the president of the senate; and(2) At least one member that shall be a resident of the applicable metropolitan area and a member of the house of representatives appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.(b) As appropriate, any agreement or committee bylaws that establish policy board membership may also include specifications regarding ex officio membership, terms and term limits of members, member alternates, quorum, and other considerations as permitted by law.Amended by L 2018, c 72,§ 2, eff. 6/29/2018, provided that a metropolitan planning organization policy board member whose term may be affected by this Act shall continue to serve on the policy board until the member's term expires or the member is replaced by the respective presiding officer of the house of the legislature with appointing authority over the respective policy board seat, whichever occurs first.Added by L 2015, c 132,§ 1, eff. 7/1/2015.
