Section 136-98 - Counties authorized to participate in costs of road construction and maintenance, participation is voluntary(a) Repealed by Session Laws 2007-428, s. 4, effective August 23, 2007.(b) Nothing in this Article prohibits counties from establishing service districts for road maintenance under Part 1, Article 16 of Chapter 153A of the General Statutes.(c) A county is authorized to participate in the cost of rights-of-way, construction, reconstruction, improvement, or maintenance of a road on the State highway system under agreement with the Department of Transportation. County participation in improvements to the State highway system is voluntary.
