Section 21a-227 - Health club closings. Electronic monitoring of sales presentations
(a) When any health club is closing or transferring its place of business to another location, the health club shall:
(1) Send a written notice disclosing such closing or transfer to (A) the Department of Consumer Protection, (B) all current members (i) at least sixty days before the date of such closing or transfer, and (ii) at least twenty days, but not more than forty days, before the date of such closing or transfer, and (C) all prospective members prior to entering into any health club contract; and
(2) conspicuously post, on the health club's Internet web site and premises, notices disclosing such closing or transfer. Not later than one business day after the health club provides the written notice disclosing such closing or transfer to all current members, the health club shall provide to the department an electronic copy of such written notice.
(b) No health club shall electronically monitor sales presentations between an employee of a health club and a prospective buyer unless the prospective buyer is notified that the sales presentation is being electronically monitored and the prospective buyer is given the option to require that the electronic monitor be shut off.
