On and after February 1, 2024, the Department of Public Health may issue a temporary permit to an applicant for licensure as a doctoral-level psychology provider who holds a doctoral degree in psychology or the equivalent from an education program, as described in section 20-189, but who has not yet completed such applicant's supervised postdoctoral work experience or taken the licensure examination prescribed pursuant to section 20-188. Such temporary permit shall (1) authorize the holder to practice as a doctoral-level psychology provider under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, (2) be valid for a period not to exceed one year after the date of attaining such doctoral degree or the equivalent, and (3) not be renewable. Such permit shall become void and shall not be reissued if the applicant fails to pass the licensure examination. The fee for a temporary permit shall be one hundred dollars. As used in this section, "doctoral-level psychology provider" includes a postdoctoral resident or fellow who provides psychological services.
