Section 17b-NEW - [Newly enacted section not yet numbered] Fingerprint-based criminal history records check for social worker applicants

The Commissioner of Public Health shall require each person applying for licensure as a social worker to submit to a state and national fingerprint-based criminal history records check pursuant to section 29-17a of the general statutes. For the purposes of this section, (1) "social worker" means an individual licensed for the independent practice of social work, and (2) "licensure" means authorization by a state social worker regulatory authority to engage in the independent practice of social work, the practice of which would be unlawful without such authorization.
