Any employer who discharges or in any other manner discriminates against any employee because the employee has made any complaint to his or her employer, to the director of labor and training, or to his or her authorized representative because:
(1) he or she has not been paid wages in accordance with the provisions of this chapter,(2) the employee has caused to be instituted or is about to cause to be instituted any proceeding under or related to this chapter,(3) the employee has testified or is about to testify in any such proceeding, or(4) the employee has served or is about to serve on a wage board, shall be deemed in violation of this chapter, and shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500).R.I.
