Section 16-93-2 - Definitions

For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings:

(1) "Genocide," as defined by the Genocide Convention: means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group, such as:
(i) Killing members of the group;
(ii) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(iii) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(iv) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; and/or
(v) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
(2) "Holocaust" means the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million (6,000,000) Jews and five million (5,000,000) other individuals by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.
