Section 15-8.1-201 - Recognized parentsA person may establish parentage by any of the following:
(1) Giving birth to the child, except as otherwise provided in article 8 of this chapter;(2) Adoption of the child pursuant to chapter 7 of title 15;(3) An effective voluntary acknowledgment of parentage under article 3 of this chapter;(4) An adjudication of parentage under this chapter, including adjudications based on an admission of parentage under § 15-8.1-111;(5) A presumption of parentage under article 4 of this chapter, unless the presumption is overcome in a judicial proceeding or a valid denial of parentage is made under article 3 of this chapter;(6) An adjudication of de facto parentage under article 5 of this chapter;(7) An adjudication that an alleged genetic parent is a parent under article 6 of this chapter;(8) Consent to assisted reproduction under article 7 of this chapter; or(9) Establishment of parentage under article 8 of this chapter.R.I.
