Section 160:199 - Free passes or reduced rates for public officials

Any person who, being governor, lieutenant governor, member of the council, member or member-elect of the general court, justice of the supreme judicial court, justice of the superior court, judge of probate, justice of a district court or a county commissioner, who requests, for himself or another, accepts or uses any free pass upon a railroad, or any ticket entitling him to transportation upon a railroad, for which he has paid a less price than is demanded of the public generally, and an officer, agent or employee of a railroad corporation who issues, delivers or offers to any person hereinbefore mentioned or to or for any other person at the request, solicitation or procurement of any such person, except as otherwise provided by the following section or section fifteen of chapter one hundred and fifty-nine, a free pass or any ticket entitling him to transportation at a less rate of fare than is demanded of the public generally, shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred nor more than one thousand dollars.
