Section 112:80A - Violations of provisions relating to practical nursing

Whoever, not being lawfully authorized to practice as a licensed practical nurse within the commonwealth, practices or attempts to practice practical nursing or uses the abbreviation L.P.N., or any other words, letters or figures to indicate that the person using the same is such a licensed practical nurse shall, except as provided in section sixty-five, be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars; provided, however, that a nonresident, licensed to practice practical nursing in another jurisdiction, may so practice in the commonwealth for a period or periods which, in the aggregate, exclusive of any period of time during which such person is in attendance upon a nonresident of the commonwealth temporarily abiding here, does not exceed six months. Whoever becomes or attempts to become licensed as a licensed practical nurse, or practices or attempts to practice practical nursing under a false or assumed name shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred nor more than one thousand dollars or imprisonment for one year, or both.
