Section 23A:60B - Employment assistance and training program

The Massachusetts office of business development shall, subject to appropriation, initiate, organize, develop and coordinate an employment assistance and training program designed to enlarge and improve the skills of the work force, especially those within urban areas containing sections of substantial poverty.

In the development of such a program, the Massachusetts office of business development shall coordinate with all existing state agencies including, but not limited to, the executive office of labor and workforce development, the and the executive office of education, and with any similar training programs sponsored, directed or funded by the federal government operating within the commonwealth.

The office of business development shall, from time to time, determine and designate eligible sections of substantial poverty and it shall approve and certify the training or assistance programs which are to be utilized or undertaken by an eligible business facility.

The Massachusetts office of business development may promulgate regulations to implement this section, including the criteria for a business facility to become an eligible business facility and the requirements to renew a certificate of eligibility.
