Section 2554-C - Identification photos of senior high school, junior high school or intermediate school students in the city school district of the city of New York

Upon the recommendation of the principal of a senior high school, junior high school or intermediate school and subject to the approval of the community superintendent for junior high schools or intermediate schools and chancellor for senior high schools, students enrolled in a senior high school, junior high school or intermediate school may be required to be photographed for purposes of identification. The principal of such school may designate the photographer to be used, but the student may not be charged for the cost of such photograph. If required by the principal, such photograph shall be taken within three months after the student's admission to such school. Such photograph shall be kept within the school at a place designated by the principal. At the discretion of the principal, and subject to the approval of the community superintendent for junior high schools or intermediate schools and chancellor for senior high schools, an identification card bearing a photograph of each student may also be required to be kept on the person of such student during hours when the student is attending such school.
