Section 24-32-706 - State housing board(1) There is created, within the division of housing, the state housing board. The governor shall appoint one member from each congressional district in the state to the board. The member must be a qualified elector of the congressional district from which the member is appointed. In making appointments to the board, the governor shall include representation by at least one member who is a person with a disability, as defined in section 24-34-301, a family member of a person with a disability, or a member of an advocacy group for persons with disabilities.(2) The term of office for a member is four years; except that the terms shall be staggered so that no more than a minimum majority of the members' terms expire in the same year. Members shall not serve more than two consecutive full terms. All members shall be appointed with the consent of the senate.(3) A vacancy on the board occurs whenever any member moves out of the congressional district from which the member was appointed. A member who moves out of such congressional district shall promptly notify the governor of the date of such move, but such notice is not a condition precedent to the occurrence of the vacancy. The governor shall fill the vacancy as provided in subsection (5) of this section.(4) Not more than a minimum majority of the members may be affiliated with any one political party.(5) Any vacancy shall be filled by the governor pursuant to subsection (1) of this section for the unexpired term.(6) Members of the board shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed for necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.(7) The board shall meet upon call of the chair or whenever directed by the governor.(8) The governor may remove any appointed member of the board for misconduct, incompetence, or neglect of duty, and any such removal, when made, shall not be subject to review.Amended by 2023 Ch. 269,§ 4, eff. 5/25/2023.Amended by 2022 Ch. 2, § 60, eff. 2/25/2022.Amended by 2018 Ch. 351, § 5, eff. 7/1/2018.L. 70: p. 241, § 1.
