Section 3-528 - Report of use of force incidents involving a police officer(a)(1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.(2) "Law enforcement agency" has the meaning stated in § 3-201 of this title.(3) "Police officer" has the meaning stated in § 3-201 of this title.(b)(1) On or before March 1, 2022, and each March 1 thereafter, each local law enforcement agency shall report to the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services information, for the previous calendar year, on each use of force incident involving a police officer employed by the law enforcement agency that resulted in a monetary settlement or judgment against the law enforcement agency.(2) The information reported shall include: (i) the age, gender, ethnicity, and race of each individual involved in the incident;(ii) the age, gender, ethnicity, and race of the police officer involved in the incident;(iii) a brief description of the circumstances surrounding the incident;(iv) the date, time, and location of the incident;(v) the date on which the civil action was filed;(vi) the date on which the civil action was resolved; and(vii) the amount of the settlement or judgment awarded to the plaintiff.(c) The Governor's Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services shall adopt procedures for the collection and analysis of the information required under this section.(d) On or before June 30 each year, the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services shall compile and submit an annual report on the information required under this section to the General Assembly, in accordance with § 2-1257 of the State Government Article.(e) The Governor's Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services shall post annually the report required under this section on its website.Added by 2021 Md.
