Section 19-509 - Boards - Membership(a)(1) Each board consists of 7 members appointed by the Governor.(2) The Governor shall appoint the members from a list of qualified individuals submitted to the Governor by the Secretary.(b) Each member of the board for a center: (1) Shall be a citizen of this State;(2) Shall be a resident of a county that the center serves;(3) Shall be representative of the community; and(4) Shall be known for an interest in civic and public affairs and for concern about the care of chronically ill individuals.(c)(1) The term of a member is 4 years.(2) The terms of members are staggered as required by the terms provided for members of each board on July 1, 1982. The terms of those members end as follows: (3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.(4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.(5) A member who serves 2 consecutive full 4-year terms may not be reappointed for 4 years after completion of those terms.
