Section 11-621 - Definitions(a) In Part II of this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.(b)(1) "Defendant" means a person charged with or convicted of a crime in the State that involves or causes personal injury, death, or property loss as a direct result of the crime.(2) "Defendant" includes a person found not criminally responsible for criminal conduct under § 3-109 of this article.(c) "Notoriety of crimes contract" means a contract or other agreement with a defendant, or a representative or assignee of a defendant, with respect to: (1) the reenactment of a crime in a movie, book, magazine article, tape recording, phonograph record, radio or television presentation, or live entertainment of any kind;(2) the expression of the defendant's thoughts, feelings, opinions, or emotions regarding a crime involving or causing personal injury, death, or property loss as a direct result of the crime; or(3) the payment or exchange of money or other consideration or the proceeds or profits that directly or indirectly result from a crime, a sentence, or the notoriety of a crime or sentence.(d) "Victim" means a person who suffers personal injury, death, or property loss as a direct result of crime.(e) "Victim's representative" includes the personal representative of the estate of a deceased victim and a beneficiary under a wrongful death action.
