Section 45-35-111 - Compensation
(a)
(1) In Houston County, the election officials referred to in Section 17-8-12 as "inspectors" and "clerks" are respectively referred to as "chief inspectors" and "poll workers."
(2) The Houston County Appointing Board may appoint chief inspectors and deputy chief inspectors from the total number of appointed poll workers.
(b) A chief inspector shall receive additional compensation in an amount that, together with any amount paid by the state, shall make his or her total compensation two hundred dollars ($200) per day for each day he or she works at the polls.
(c) A deputy chief inspector shall receive additional compensation in an amount that, together with any amount paid by the state, shall make his or her total compensation one hundred fifty dollars ($150) per day for each day he or she works at the polls.
(d) Poll workers shall receive additional compensation in an amount that, together with any amount paid by the state, shall make their total compensation one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) per day for each day they work at the polls.
(e) If the amount paid to the above officials as compensation or expense allowance by the state increases in the future, then the amount paid by the county under this section shall automatically decrease in a like amount.
(f) All additional compensation provided for in this section shall be paid from the general fund of the county.
