Section 45-30-50 - Qualifications; expenses(a) This section shall apply only to Franklin County.(b) Each constable, elected or appointed after August 1, 2001, shall have attended and completed a course of study at a police academy or similar institution and shall be in full compliance with minimum standards of the Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission under Section 36-21-46.(c) Constables holding office on August 1, 2001, are exempt from this section.(d) The Franklin County Commission shall provide an annual appropriation in an amount of up to fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) per year to the office of the Sheriff of Franklin County to be used to reimburse constables for actual and necessary expenses in the performance of the duties of constables. Funds previously made available to the county commission for a legislative delegation office shall be used up to the amount of the annual appropriation provided for in this section to the extent funds are not otherwise provided by the county commission.Ala.
