Section 34-8-53 - Meetings(a) The first meeting of the committee shall be called by the executive director of the board as soon as practicable after January 1, 2025. The executive director of the board, or his or her designee, shall preside until a chair and a vice chair are selected by the committee. The committee shall elect annually from its own members a chair, a vice chair, and other officers as it may deem desirable.(b) The committee shall hold a regular meeting at least once during each calendar year at a time and place designated by the board or specified by the committee. Special or additional meetings may be held upon the call of the chair, a call signed by at least seven members, or the call of the executive director of the board. All meetings of the committee shall be held in accordance with the Alabama Open Meetings Act, Chapter 25A of Title 36.(c) A majority of the members of the committee shall constitute a quorum at all meetings, and adoption or resolution of any business shall require the concurrence of a majority of all members of the committee.(d) The committee may establish subcommittees among its membership, as it deems necessary, to assist in the conduct of its business.(e) The committee may adopt bylaws for the conduct of the meetings, procedures, and execution of the purpose, functions, powers, and duties delegated to it by the board.Ala.
