Section 13517 - Guidelines establishing standard procedures in detection, investigation, and response to cases in which minor is victim of act of abuse or neglect(a) The commission shall prepare guidelines establishing standard procedures which may be followed by police agencies in the detection, investigation, and response to cases in which a minor is a victim of an act of abuse or neglect prohibited by this code. The guidelines shall include procedures for determining whether or not a child should be taken into protective custody. The guidelines shall also include procedures for minimizing the number of times a child is interviewed by law enforcement personnel.(b) The course of training leading to the basic certificate issued by the commission shall, not later than July 1, 1979, include adequate instruction in the procedures described in subdivision (a).(c) The commission shall prepare and implement an optional course of training of specialists in the investigation of cases in which a minor is a victim of an act of abuse or neglect prohibited by this code.(d) The commission shall consult with the State Office of Child Abuse Prevention in developing the guidelines and optional course of training.Amended by Stats. 1985, Ch. 672, Sec. 1.
