Section 10123.1931 - Medically necessary treatments for AIDS/HIV(a) For combination antiretroviral drug treatments that are medically necessary for the prevention of AIDS/HIV, a health insurer shall not have utilization management policies or procedures, including a standard of care, which rely on a multitablet drug regimen instead of a single-tablet drug regimen unless, consistent with clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed scientific and medical literature, the multitablet regimen is clinically equally or more effective and equally or more likely to result in adherence to a drug regimen.(b) This section shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2023, and as of that date is repealed, unless a later enacted statute that is enacted before January 1, 2023, deletes or extends that date.Ca.
