Section 13986 - Funding allocation; report
(a) The secretary shall coordinate with the Department of Transportation and the California Transportation Commission to identify available funding in state transportation programs in existence as of January 1, 2024, including, but not limited to, competitive grant programs administered by the agency, the Department of Transportation, or the California Transportation Commission, that may be used to support grade separation projects that were previously awarded funding from Cycle 6 of the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (Part 2 (commencing with Section 75220) of Division 44 of the Public Resources Code) and the Port and Freight Infrastructure Program established pursuant to Section 2196.2 of the Streets and Highways Code but had that funding reverted pursuant to the Budget Act of 2024.
(b) Notwithstanding any other law, the agency shall prioritize, and may directly allocate, funding identified pursuant to subdivision (a), as available and appropriate, for grade separation projects described in subdivision (a) that are at risk of losing or failing to secure federal and local funding commitments, or that are at risk of approved project schedule delays, or both.
(c)
(1) The secretary shall report to the Legislature, on or before April 30, 2025, on any funding that the secretary identified for impacted grade separation projects pursuant to subdivision (a).
(2) The secretary shall submit the report required pursuant to paragraph (1) in compliance with Section 9795.
