Section 252 - Data compiled by gender and ethnicity(a) The Superintendent of Public Instruction shall, to the extent possible within existing resources, review and revise, where necessary, the policies and practices of programs administered by the department that provide services to school districts in order to promote improved gender equity.(b) The superintendent shall make available, upon request, wherever possible, the following data, compiled by gender and ethnicity: (1) Assessment scores for all grades tested.(2) The number of pupils enrolled in mathematics and science courses, as well as courses in other fields of study in which ethnic minority populations or members of either gender have been traditionally underrepresented among participants.(3) The number of high school graduates.(4) The number of high school graduates who complete the minimum requirements for admission to the University of California.(5) The number of pupils who leave school before graduation.(6) The number of pupils participating in interscholastic athletics.(c) The superintendent shall request the United States Department of Education to amend the Title IV-C grant for race, sex, and national origin desegregation received pursuant to Section 2000c-2 of Title 42 of the United States Code, and any regulations adopted pursuant thereto, so that funds received under those federal laws that are currently designated for technical assistance activities also may be used for gender equity monitoring and assistance activities.Added by Stats. 1993, Ch. 1123, Sec. 1.
