As amended through April 30, 2019
Rule 7.10 - Extension of time (a) An extension of time in which to file briefs may only be obtained from the appellate court upon a motion certifying good cause made before the time to file the brief expires. A motion for extension of time shall be filed at least 3 working days before the brief is due. If the motion is filed less than 3 working days before the brief is due, then the motion shall detail why the party was unable to make the request in a timely manner. Motions filed in the district court must be accompanied by an order in the proper form. (b) Good cause, as used in this rule, includes such things as a death in counsel's immediate family, serious illness, or other unanticipated circumstances which justify delay of the appellate process. Generalities such as "counsel is too busy" are not a sufficient reason for granting an extension. (c) Absent extraordinary circumstances, motions to extend the time to file reply briefs will not be considered. Amended April 6, 2015, effective July 1, 2015.
