Rule DRJ 12 - STIPULATED RESOLUTIONS BY COMMISSION(a)Generally. The commission may stipulate to a disposition of a case, with the agreement of the judge under CJCRP 23. If the stipulation requires the suspension, removal, or retirement of a judge, the Supreme Court must review and approve or reject the stipulation.(b)Effect of Stipulated Resolution. A stipulated agreement to admonish, reprimand, or censure a judge without a recommendation for suspension, removal, or retirement terminates the complaint or complaints which gave rise to the admonishment or reprimand, without the necessity of referring the matter to the Supreme Court.Wash. Const. art. IV, subsection 31 (amend. 85) gives the commission the authority to impose discipline on judges. Only the Supreme Court can suspend, remove, or order a judge retired. The commission is only empowered to admonish, reprimand, or censure a judge. If more serious discipline is called for, the Supreme Court must impose the discipline.
