Rule 11.016 - Termination of Parental Rights (TPR)(1) TPR Initial Appearances are held on the second Friday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Jackson County Circuit Court Justice Building located at 100 S Oakdale Avenue, Medford, Oregon 97501.(2) A parent who is served with a summons for the first appearance in a petition to terminate parental rights case shall appear personally in court at the time and place specified in the summons. The purpose of the appearance is to deny allegations of the petition and to receive/acknowledge future court dates for TPR proceedings.(3) At the first appearance, a parent may request a court appointed attorney to represent the parent at trial.(4) Parents who are incarcerated will be permitted to appear by simultaneous electronic transmission (e.g. telephone or video).(5) A parent who fails to appear as summoned may be subject to entry of judgment granting the petition to terminate the parental rights of that parent following a prima facie hearing.(6) A parent who fails to appear at any hearing subsequent to the first appearance may be subject to entry of judgment granting the petition to terminate parental rights of that parent following a prima facie hearing.Jackson Supp. L.
