Rule 14.35 - PURPOSE OF THE GUARDIANSHIP FAMILY ENGAGEMENT MEDIATION PROGRAM

The 18th Judicial Circuit Court Guardianship Family Engagement Mediation Program ("The Program") is designed to provide families with an active guardianship of a minor case an opportunity to participate in court-ordered mediation whereby a qualified and neutral mediator, appointed through the Court, assists the litigants in reaching mutually acceptable agreements. It is an informal and non-adversarial process. The role of the mediator includes, but is not limited to, assisting the parties in identifying issues, fostering joint problem-solving, exploring settlement alternatives, and reaching agreements that the court determines are in the best interests of the children.
