Rule 18 - Consolidation; Separate Trials(a) CONSOLIDATION. When two or more cases are pending for the adoption, termination of parental rights, permanent guardianship, or custody of the same child, the court may consolidate them and, if the court deems appropriate, order that they be tried together.(b) SEPARATE TRIALS. For convenience, to avoid prejudice, or to expedite and economize, the court may order a separate trial of one or more separate issues or claims.Adop. R. Sup. Ct. D.C. 18
