Ala. R. Jud. Admin. 10

As amended through July 15, 2024
Rule 10 - Judicial secretarial service

The administrative director of courts ("ABC") shall provide a confidential secretary for each presiding circuit judge. The ABC may authorize such other confidential secretarial positions on either a full-time or part-time basis, as are necessary for other circuit and district judges, upon consideration of such factors as available fundings, the population and the geographic area to be served, other secretarial services that may be available, caseload of the judge requesting the position, and such other special circumstances that may reflect on the need for secretarial assistance. Judicial secretaries, when authorized, shall serve as confidential employees of the appointing judge; provided however, that this rule shall not be construed to affect the merit status of any individual serving as a judicial secretary on October 1, 1987.
