An application, Form U.W. 5 - "Application for Permit to Appropriate Ground Water", must be filed, and a permit secured from the State Engineer, before initiating construction of any well or other works which would utilize ground water, including domestic and/or stock wells. An approved permit must also be obtained when a well is completed for any non-water related activity (i.e. mineral exploration, seismograph, etc.) and is then converted so that water can be withdrawn and beneficially used. The application for permit must be completed by the applicant or his authorized agent, and submitted to the State Engineer's Office with the legally required Two Dollar ($2.00) filing fee.
