When a person violates a wildlife-related law and is issued a citation pursuant to s. 23.53, Stats., or is served a complaint and summons pursuant s. 23.55, Stats., the issuing officer or the district attorney issuing the complaint and summons shall provide the violator with a written notice that informs the violator that Wisconsin is a member of the wildlife violator compact and what the ramifications will be if the violator's hunting, fishing or trapping privileges or approvals are revoked in this state, or if the violator fails to appear in court, pay the required penalty or otherwise fails to resolve the citation, summons or complaint.
