(2) BEST AVAILABLE TREATMENT. The following are the BATs available for achieving compliance with the maximum contaminant level for the volatile organic chemicals listed in sub. (1): (a) Central treatment using packed tower aeration.(b) Central treatment using granular activated carbon, except for vinyl chloride and dichloromethane.(3) ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT. The department may approve the use of alternative treatment not listed in sub. (2), if a water supplier demonstrates to the department, using pilot studies or other means, that the alternative treatment is sufficient to achieve compliance with the MCLs in sub. (1). Wis. Admin.
