Section 141-58-10 - James H. Francis Trophy Match

A separate match to be fired annually to determine the individual service rifle champion for the West Virginia National Guard. Except those members of WVNG state teams who have previously won the match, any member of the WVARNG or WVANG is eligible to compete.

a.Course of Fire (Precision Combat Rifle Course)
1).Stage 1. Fired from the 100 yard line. Two sighters (to be fired during the 3-minute preparation period) and 10 rounds sustained fire, standing position, 2-minute time limit. Possible score 50 points.
2).Stage 2. Fired from the 200 yard line. Two sighters (to be fired during the 3-minute preparation period) and 10 rounds rapid fire from standing to sitting position, 50-second time limit. Possible score 50 points.
3).Stage 3. Fired from the 300 yard line. Two sighters (to be fired during the 3-minute preparation period) and 10 rounds rapid fire from standing to prone position, 60-second time limit. Possible score 50 points.
4).Stage 4. Fired from the *400 yard line. Two sighters (to be fired during the 3-minute preparation period) and 20 rounds slow fire, prone position, 20-minute time limit. Possible score 100 points.

*Should the 400 yard line not be available, this stage will be fired at 300 yds.

b.Weapon. The only rifle used in this competition will be the standard issue M16A1 as described in TM 9-1005-249-14.
c.Ammunition. Only 5.56mm ball ammunition that is issued on the firing line will be used.
d.Uniform. Uniform for this competition will be the standard combat uniform with LBE. List of required items of apparel is found in Change 1 to FORSCOM/TRADOC Supp 1 to AR 350-6. Appendix C.
e.Targets. The current Rifle Target "D" Silhouette, FSN 6920-00-922-7450 will be used in this competition. The replacement center is FSN 6920-00-922-7451.
