The Adjutant General (TAG) is the Chief of Staff to the Governor of West Virginia and is the Commanding General of all West Virginia National Guard, the West Virginia Army National Guard, West Virginia Air National Guard and State Militia. During premobilization, The Adjutant General is the State Area Command Commander (STARC CDR). As TAG and STARC CDR he is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and the controlling of all WVNG military forces, for the accomplishment of assigned missions. This authority also includes the responsibility for the health, welfare, training, morale and discipline of all WVARNG personnel.
