Section 126-19-2 - Rationale
2.1. The West Virginia Board of Education recognizes that the preservation of our society is to be found in the conservation of our human and material resources.
2.2. Safety is an integral part of the overall educational experience which can make this conservation a reality.
2.3. Safety is the outcome of an effective program of safety education consisting of protective and instructional components at every grade level.
2.4. Such a program of safety education will contribute to the preservation of life, limb and property and the development of behavioral traits leading to safe and efficient living in a technological society.
2.5. The Office of Emergency Planning and the Governor's Proclamation in regard to Safety designates the State Superintendent of Schools to provide technical assistance to the Governor in matters involving the public schools in the event of a disaster.
2.6. The State Board of Education is required by the West Virginia Code to provide for the safety and safety education of the youth in the schools of West Virginia.
