Section 246-237-073 - Applicability of physical protection of Category 1 and Category 2 quantities of radioactive material during transit(1) For shipments of Category 1 quantities of radioactive material, each shipping licensee shall comply with the requirements for physical protection contained in WAC 246-237-075(1) and (5); 246-237-077; 246-237-079 (1)(a), (2)(a), and (3); and 246-237-081 (1), (3), (5), (7), and (8).(2) For shipments of Category 2 quantities of radioactive material, each shipping licensee shall comply with the requirements for physical protection contained in WAC 246-237-075(2) through (5); 246-237-079 (1)(b), (c), (2)(b), and (3); and 246-237-081 (2), (4), (6), (7), and (8). For those shipments of Category 2 quantities of radioactive material which meet the criteria of WAC 246-231-140(2), the shipping licensee shall also comply with the advance notification provisions of WAC 246-231-140.(3) The shipping licensee shall be responsible for meeting the requirements of this chapter unless the receiving licensee has agreed in writing to arrange for the in-transit physical protection required under this chapter.(4) Each licensee that imports or exports Category 1 quantities of radioactive material shall comply with the requirements for physical protection during transit contained in WAC 246-237-075(1)(b) and (5); 246-237-077; 246-237-079 (1)(a), (2)(a), and (3); and 246-237-081 (1), (3), (5), (7), and (8) for the domestic portion of the shipment.(5) Each licensee that imports or exports Category 2 quantities of radioactive material shall comply with the requirements for physical protection during transit contained in WAC 246-237-079(1)(b), (c), and (2)(b); and 246-237-081 (2), (4), (6), (7), and (8) for the domestic portion of the shipment.Wash.
