Section 6.43 - Design, Construction, and Procurement Standards
(a) Plans and specifications.
(1) For state highway improvement projects, plans and specifications must be in compliance with the department's applicable design manuals and the latest version of the department's Standard Specifications for Construction of Highways, Streets, And Bridges.
(2) For projects not on the state highway system, plans and specifications must be, at a minimum, in compliance with applicable American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) design standards.
(b) Engineer approval. All construction plans shall be signed and dated by a professional engineer registered in Texas.
(c) Change orders. The department may require standards and procedures to be used in making any design change orders.
(d) Transit projects. Transit projects must comply with all requirements established under §§ 31.39- 31.49 of this title (relating to Program Administration).
