Section 330.147 - Disposal of Large Items(a) Large, heavy, or bulky items, that cannot be incorporated in the regular spreading, compaction, and covering operations at landfills should be recycled. A special area should be established to collect these items. This special collection area must be designated as a large-item salvage area. The owner or operator shall remove the items from the site often enough to prevent these items from becoming a nuisance and to preclude the discharge of any pollutants from the area.(b) Items that can be classified as large, heavy, or bulky can include, but are not limited to, white goods (household appliances), air conditioner units, metal tanks, large metal pieces, and automobiles.(c) Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and any other items containing chlorinated fluorocarbon (CFC) must be handled in accordance with 40 Code of Federal Regulations §82.156(f), as amended.30 Tex.
