Section 217.68 - Force Main Testing(a) The final plans and specifications must include the pressure testing procedures.(b) A pressure test must use 50 pounds per square inch above the normal operating pressure of a force main.(c) A temporary valve for pressure testing may be installed near the discharge point of a force main and must be removed after a test is successfully completed.(d) A pump isolation valve may be used as an opposite termination point.(e) A test must involve filling a force main with water.(f) A pipe must hold the designated test pressure for a minimum of 4.0 hours.(g) The leakage rate must not exceed 10.0 gallons per inch of diameter per mile of pipe per day. The following equation must be used to calculate the acceptable leakage rate in gallons per hour per 1,000 feet of pipe. Attached Graphic
