Section 749.3663 - What are the basic safety requirements for the home and grounds?(a) The home must be clean, safe, and free of obvious fire and other hazards. The home must be equipped with smoke detectors.(b) Pets must be vaccinated and treated as recommended by a licensed veterinarian.(c) If the adoptive home has a swimming pool, wading pool, hot tub, or other bodies of water on the premises, you must discuss safety issues and plans to ensure the safety of the child with the adoptive applicants.(d) You must discuss and assess basic care and safety issues depending on the age and specific needs of the child or children being considered for placement in the home. When you select a child for placement in the home, you must discuss issues specific to the child including supervision, special health or behavior risks, and general child care needs according to the experience and training needs of the adoptive parents.26 Tex.
